Dornier 928 and Envoy 7 Upper Wing Box Panels

Computer programs (in VB) for detail stress analysis and sizing of the integrally stiffened panels were developed and validated against the Dornier 328 results. For a specific configuration (rib/stringer spacing), optimum sizes of skin and stringers were defined. Strength requirements included: shear & compression buckling of the skin, stringer local buckling, skin/stringer crippling and skin/stringer column buckling. Manufacturing requirements were considered as minimum & maximum skin/stringer thickness and stringer height.

Dornier 728, 928 and Envoy 7 Wing Box Front/Rear Spars

Computer programs (in VB) for detail stress analysis and sizing of wing box spars were developed and validated against the Dornier 328 results. For a specific configuration (spar height and number of vertical/horizontal stiffeners), front/rear spar sizes (web thickness, stiffeners and spar caps geometries) were defined. All known strength requirements were checked. These included: web stability (combined shear, bending & compression), shear strength, web bending due to ultimate & crash pressure cases, vertical & horizontal stiffeners strength (local stability, column buckling, crippling, stiffness), spar caps strength (local stability, crippling), spar ultimate bending moment strength, rivet attachments (shear, bearing, inter-rivet buckling, tensile strength). Manufacturing requirements were considered as minimum & maximum geometry sizes.
